What is your current use of technology level? How do you currently use technology? With your current knowledge of technology, what skill do you know that you could pass on to students in your classroom that would useful for their learning?
Technology is an enormous part of my life. Every day I use some form of technology, whether it is a radio or a computer. I love using many forms of technology, but when problems occur, I am not very skilled in solving the problems. I currently use technology every day. I have a cell phone that goes everywhere with me. I love watching movies with my television and DVD player. I enjoy taking pictures with my digital camera and then uploading them to my computer. I have an Ipod that allows me to enjoy my favorite music anywhere I go. I am constantly surfing the Internet, editing photos, and using other software on my computer. Due to using a computer for a number of years, I am comfortable using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, but I am not very knowledgeable about Microsoft Excel because I do not use that program on a daily basis. I know how to find my way around the Internet and how to perform simple, regular maintenance to a computer. I can type fairly fast, which has become very convenient and helpful to me over the years. As far as a skill that would be useful to the rest of my classmates, I could try to help answer any problems they may have with searching the Internet or performing simple tasks in Microsoft Word. I hope that with this class I will become more comfortable with using many programs on the computer and learn even more with some programs that I am already familiar with. I hope to use technology in my classroom to show my students how important it truly is and how the world could easily be waiting for them at their fingertips.
Welcome to the class. Your use of technology level sounds adequate enough to pass this on to your students. In the classroom, when it comes to technology use: just in time learning works well. Also, allowing your students to become the technospurts in the classroom works well. You'll find that some students are technology experts with various software/hardware. In a successful technology-using classroom, both the students and teacher are learners/teachers. This takes nothing away from the teacher, as the teacher is still responsible for setting the dynamics of the classroom learning experience.
