There are many ways to integrate technology into a classroom so all of the students are both familiar and understand the many forms of technology. Teachers should definitely be aware of the new and updated forms of technology. Students are the next generation of America and need to be informed of technology through their learning environments. Some easy ways to integrate technology into a classroom is just by having the students work with many different software programs for the computer, use a calculator or digital camera, and be familiar with how to use the overhead projector for different projects or presentations to the whole class.
As for the teacher, she can use technology in many ways to help her teach her classroom. Teachers could use websites for ideas for lesson plans, books to read, activities to do, or suggestions with behavior problems. She could integrate technology in a fun way for the students by having them perform a web quest, play educational games on the computer, create and decorate a PowerPoint show for the whole class, take pictures using a digital camera of the child’s favorite things and then have them learn how to transfer those to the computer for the whole class to view, or simply have them sample many different forms of technology to see how it all works. Also another fun way of introducing the students to technology is letting them have an open computer lab time. By letting the students explore the computer on their own and free to do whatever they would like, within limits, then that is a way for them to get not only comfortable with the computer but enjoy having the world at their fingertips. They could take advantage of the Internet, the programs like Paint, or simply play games.
This website,
http://www.glencoe.com/sec/teachingtoday/subject/int_tech_lit_la.phtml, gives certain tips on how to integrate technology into a language arts classroom in an innovative and fun way. I found their suggestions to be very appropriate and something I am sure students would enjoy doing. I liked how they could use an online writing lab if students needed help with their grammar and also how they suggested books online rather than just out of the library. All of these would be innovative ways to introduce technology to learning environments.

I am glad you are open to being a risk-taker in incorporating technology in your classroom. The benefits of doing so far outweigh the negatives.
Allowing students access to the many Internet activities and software that will help them learn your lessons offered is a major benefit. Putting the power to create, build their own projects as they learn the basics is powerful for students.
I like your 'semi-existentialist' approach to allowing for open lab time, allowing students to learn whatever they want to learn on the computer. Of course, you would need to monitor that, making sure they are not visiting non-educational sites, but it does accommodate especially for those students who learn best by individual experience.
